Highlights:
233 bird species, 43 reptile and amphibian species among them the King Cobra and the Vietnamese Salamander (Paramesotriton deloustali), have been recorded. In Ba Be lake, 106 fish species from 61 genera, 17 families, and 5 orders have been recorded. The park is also teworthy for its diversity in butterflies for which 354 species have been recorded.
 
DETAILED ITINERARY:
DAY1: HANOI-BABE NATIONAL PARK
Departure from Hanoi this morning we heading the North towards Ba Be Lake. This drive of 270 km, which will take approximately seven hours, takes us through the flatlands of the Red River Delta and up into the mountain areas north of Hanoi. As we progress north, the scenery becomes more and more picturesque. From our scheduled lunch stop it is only around two and a-half-hours to our destination. Arriving in Ba Be town by mid afternoon we will check into our guest house and then head out for a bit of exploration before the sun sets.
Overnight at National park guest houes (right in the centre of Babe National park, some 2km from the lake) (L/D)
DAY2: BABE NATIONAL PARK
Have breakfast before transferring to the jetty where we board our private boat for a cruise on the lake. If weather permitting we can have a swim in crystal clear waters before having lunch. Following lunch we board our boat to the Tay village of Pac Ngoi. A visit to this small hamlet will enable us to witness how little the lives of the people in these remote areas have changed.
Tonight, after the trip, we will be sleep for home-stay in a Tay ethnic village of house on stilts. (B/L/D)
DAY3: BABE- HANOI CAPITAL
This morning we will commence our return journey to Hanoi. En route we will make a stop at the interesting Thai Nguyen Ethnology Museum. Arrival back into Hanoi will be approximately mid afternoon. (B)
