 Hoa Binh Mountain Province

Hoa Binh is a manifold and abundance cultural region by friendship about culture of 6 ethnic groups, including: Muong, Kinh, Dzao, Thai, Tay, H’Mong. Each ethnic has their own original traditional cultural heritage and there’s commen characters by harmony of 6 cultural basics between them.

The Muong ethnic minority: Muong ethnic group that appropriate majority in it’s elements of Hoa Binh province (63,3%).

Muong minority isn’t script therefore Muong historical process, folk literature which is the only form of art and it’s now an important part in traditional one of Hoa Binh. Muong minority’s folk in Hoa Binh which is plentiful, diversified development, there are special and unique characters without seeing another. Types of dance, such as fold dance, flower dance, Xuc tep dance, object dance...that have content reflects Muong minority’s manufacture and conditions of their life as well as feelings so  many people like musical instruments include; Flute, Trumpet, and in addition,  Muong minority has customs of playing gongs Brass drum and Duong (bray mortar). When you come to Muong villages in festive holidays, or Tet holidays, you will have chance to enjoin Can wine that is a typical practice conditions of their life, to day it still exists Muong monority’s characteristic. About joyfulness have smite Ca, Co Le, Cho playing, Mang playing, Con throwing ... and a number of another. 

 The Kinh ethnic: The Kinh ethnic makes up the number of 27,7% of the population of Hoa Binh province who usually concentrate in cities, towns... Where have condition of favourable trade exchanges. They take part in key economical branches of Hoa Binh province, Kinh labours working quite crowly in state-owned enterprises in boths central and local, especially in it’s key branches such as: Processing industry, electric, water allocation, tourism and trading branch, education and health branch... The Kinh ethnic in Hoa Binh is a key force in building and economic development process.

The Dzao ethnic minority:  The Dzao minority makes up the number of 1,73% of the population of Hoa Binh province. They live in three high, average and low terrain areas. To day, apart from  slashing - and - burning cultivation, growing rice, The Dzao minority’s settled and settled agriculture in Hoa Binh makes breeding cattle, and bring remarkable source of revenue beyond till the fields, grow rice. Its clothes is a very original and diversified form. The red Dzao female wears splendidly on black cloth basic. The back put on Nom Kie Vuong Vai express women’s embroidering, decorating. Dzao minority has Mua Chuong, Mua Gay, Mua Rua, Mua Chim... It’s Nhun Khoe steps combining with contrariwise moving along the hand, leg and all over, wave one’s hand, rhombus, square combine with drumping, gong, howling sound.

The Thai Ethnic monority: The Thai Ethnic monority lives mainly in Mai Chau district, that makes up 3,99% of the population of  Hoa Binh province. They have their own language and script. The literature treasure stores over 500 ancient Thai books, including famous epics like song Tru Xon Xao (see off lover), Khu Kun - Nang  Ua, Y Noi - Nang Xua, Tan Chu Xiet Xuong, Chuong Han Hien Hom, Quan To Muong, Tay Po Xo, Quan Xien Muong, Quan Xon Con, Quan Chien Lang... Traditional brocade weaving village is very well known with colourful and nice patterns, bearing national nuance, which is a set of women’s clothes, Pieu showly colours handkerchief. Thai minority’s food and drinking culture is plentiful. There are 5 parts in a meal on a tray including; Dipping, feed on uncooked vegetables, drinking, food, meal.

The H’Mong ethnic monority: The H’Mong ethnic monority lives mainly in boths Hang Kia commune and Pa Co Mai Chau district that makes up 0,52% of the population in Hoa Binh province. Its cultural life closes with kermise, festive day, Tet holiday which are in harmony with welcoming spring to celebrate. Besides, there are other festivals to encourage power and bravery such as: Horse-race, shoot with a bow and arrow, crossbow. They are very famous with special art of embroideries dress in wearing culture. H’Mong women’s traditional clothes including: Non Cut dress, Xoe rong,  sophisticated design.

Nowaday, H’Mong minority knows how to business type of services for visitors to come Hang Kia and Pa Co commune. In addition, They know to exchange their handicraff products by kermises, commemorative shops, visitors...

The Tay ethnic minority : The Tay minority makes up the number of 2,71% of the population of Hoa Binh province concentrating in Da Bac province. They have a long-time cultural tradition and own script. Tay minority’s cultural character expresses in Luon melody, Then sing, Luon Sluong, Luon Coi, Luon Ngan, Sluong dance, Chau dance, Dan Tin tree, Phuong Ly. The Tay male has long indigo dress with white trousers, the head wears ready-to-wear turban, the top’s slanted toward rearwards, legs wears Hai Xao, Vai shoes. The Tay female’s head rolls across the hair, cover Mo qua handkerchief of outside with a long indigo dress sets Dong button, tie band of indigo across the back, boths tail of brands let off behind, it’s materials is made from self weave and dye.
