On arrival Hanoi International airport. You are transferred to the hotel in down town, check in to the hotel and free at leisure for your own exploration the city before the guide and driver come back to transfer to the best local restaurant for dinner, overnight in hotel in Hanoi.
This morning, we will start our city tour of Vietnam’s capital. Hanoi is a unique city with tree-lined boulevards, French colonial architecture, peaceful lakes and oriental temples. Take a visit to Ho Chi Minh President Complex (Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the house on stilts, presidential palace, the One Pillar Pagoda). Our next stop is the Temple of literature, the first university of Vietnam, which was built in 1070. After lunch you will visit the B52 Lake. Hanoi Hilton prison, Army Museum. Return back to hotel for check in and dinner. Overnight in Hanoi. (B/L)
Enjoy the journey through the rich farmlands of the Red River Delta and the scenery of rice fields, water buffalo and everyday Vietnamese village life. Arrive in Halong and board the Huong Hai or Bai Tho traditional sailing junk. Whilst cruise the exquisite waters sample the regions fresh seafood. Visit the recently discovered Surprise Grotto with its great views, and on the next island see the yawning mouth of Bo Nau Cave. Alternatively journey to Dau Go Cave and nearby see the famous stalagmites and stalactites of Thien Cung Cave. Enjoy a swim in the emerald waters of Halong Bay at any spot that you wish to visit. Watch the sun set over the bay whilst enjoying a delicious dinner. Overnight on board junk. (B/L/D)
Wake up to fresh coffee and a wholesome breakfast before cruising back to Halong City. En route the junk weaves through strange-shaped rock formations that invite comparisons from fighting cocks to dragons and even General de Gaulle’s nose! After another wonderful fresh seafood lunch on board disembark at the dock at Halong City. Transfer back to Hanoi by road and will be back Hanoi at early this afternoon, on arrival Hanoi, transfer to the airport for flying to Hue. Overnight Hue.(B/L)
MORNING: 08.30: Pick up at your hotel, our bus will take you to Quang Tri province where you will visit: 1. Frame of a church: La Vang holly land 2. Dong Ha Town: was the location on a strategically important U.S. Marine Combat Base, outposted to provide surveillance of troops movements across the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). 3. Doc Mieu base: One part of an elaborate electronic system (McNamara’s wall) intended to prevent infiltration across the DMZ. 4. Hien Luong bridge: known as the “Peace Bridge” , a beam bridge built from steel by the French in 1950 5. Ben Hai river: an important landmark in the partition of the country into a northern and a southern zone along the 17th parallel by the Geneva Accords of 1954 6. Cua Tung beach: the river flows from west to east just south of the 17th parallel and close to the northern border of Quang Tri Province 7. Vinh Moc tunnels: The complex of tunnel, located deep in the Vietnamese Demilitarized Zone, grew to include wells, kitchens, rooms for each family and spaces for healthcare. Have lunch in the restaurant, here, you will free to choose for your lunch AFTERNOON: 8. Ethnic minority village: learn the lives of minority people 9. Dakrong bridge: crossing the Dakrong river. 10. Ho Chi Minh trail: was a logistical system that ran from the North Vietnam to the South Vietnam through the neighboring kingdoms of Laos and Cambodia 11. Rock pile: a base for American long – range artillery nearby. 12. Khe Sanh combat base: is a valley surrounded entirely by rolling mountains and forest. Was one of the most controversial battles – of the American War. Overnight Hue (B/L)
Hue is the ancient capital of the Nguyen Dynasty (1820 – 1945). It has an area 5054 sq km and population of 1 100 000. It was designated a World’s heritage site UNESCO. Hue is neither great industrial nor great trading center but consist an undeniable charm in every aspect of its life. Today, Hue still remains one of Vietnamese’s major tourist attractions. There are many mausoleums to visit as well as the fascinating Dong Ba market, famous for selling the best conical hats in Vietnam. Starting our city tour to visit to the Thien Mu Pagoda, next will be the Imperial Citadel from where the Nguyen emperors ruled Viet Nam for 143 years. Next is the King tombs of Minh Mang and Khai Dinh Emperors before driving for Hoian town. Hoi An is now one of UNESCO’s fifth World Heritage designated sites in Vietnam. Upon arrival, check in your hotel. Dinner is free on your own tonight.( B/L)
After breakfast we will start our walking tour to visit Hoi an ancient town, From the 16th to 18th centuries, Hoi An was a thriving international commercial port for Chinese, Dutch, French, Japanese, Portuguese and Arab traders. These people came primarily to trade in the high grade silk, which is still produced in the area, as well as ceramics. Today, Hoi An is a quaint riverside town, popular with tourists for its eclectic architecture, tailors shops, and numerous cafes. Some of the buildings in the narrow streets have remained unchanged for more than a century. Our walking tour of the ancient town centre to visit the former merchants’ homes, the 400 year-old Japanese Covered Bridge and the colorful market. Lunch is served at local restaurant and after lunch, you will be free for shopping or exploration the ancient town again, or going to Cua Dai beach for swimming. Overnight in Hoi An. (B/L)
Depart from Hoi an at 7.30 am this morning and heading for My Son, some 60 Km away from Hoi An Town, My Son is the former capital of the ancient Cham civilization that ruled Central Vietnam from the second to the thirteenth century. Their religion was primarily derived from Indian Hinduism. My Son is considered to be one of the best-preserved Cham structures in Vietnam. The complex is comprised of seventy Hindu-like towers and temples dating from the second century. This site is a Must-See for those people who are interested in architecture and ancient civilizations and is now one of five UNESCO World Heritage sites in Vietnam. After touring My Son, We will drive back the main road and heading for My Lai village, My Lai is a village that belong to the district of Son My, 70 km from Danang, was a watershed in the history of modern American combat and a turning point in the public perception of the U.S.-Vietnam War. On March 16, 1968, the angry and frustrated men of Charlie Company, 11 Brigade, American Division, entered the village of My Lai. The “search and destroy” mission degenerated into the massacre of over 300 unarmed civilians including women, children and the elderly. Lt. William Calley ordered his men to enter the village firing. There were no reports of opposing fire. This day trip to the historical My Lai sight from Danang or Hoi An allows you to visit the museum, meet the local villagers and tour around the village before driving back the Hoi An. Tour ends, We will return back to Hoi An Town. Free time for dinner tonight. (B)
VN 327 @ DAD-SGN / 1200 1310 After breakfast will be a car transfer to the Da Nang Airport for a flight to Ho Chi Minh City. On arrival to the Ho Chi Minh airport, meet our guide and driver to transfer to the city. Next is our sightseeing the city including the old Saigon post office, Notre dame cathedral, former presidential palace, war remnant museum and the Chinese district of Cho Lon to enjoy the bustling wholesale quarter of Saigon. Tour ends at Late afternoon and transfer to your hotel. free on your own for exploration the city later, overnight in Saigon. (B)
In the morning you will depart for Cu Chi Tunnels tour, some 60km away from Saigon city to the North border with Cambodia. Upon arrival in Cu chi, we experience ourselves the underground village built by Cu Chi guerrilla fighters, remain of a real bloody battle field which is simply a network of tunnels built during the long years of wars. By 1965, 250 km of tunnels criss-crossed Cu Chi and surrounding areas –just across the Saigon River was the notorious guerrilla power base known as the IRON TRIANGLE. At its height, the tunnel system stretched from Saigon to the Cambodian border. The network, parts of which were several levels deep, included innumerable trap doors, specially constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centers and kitchens. Today the remaining tunnels have become a major tourist attraction giving the visitor a unique experience and feel of what underground life in the American War must have been like. The tunnels have been widened for our benefit (otherwise we would not be able to enter them!) For those interested there’s even the opportunity to fire off rounds from an AK47 or MK16 at the nearby rifle range.
At late afternoon, transfer back to Saigon this afternoon for lunch The evening is free on your own for exploration the city, overnight in Saigon. (B/L)
After breakfast will be a car transfer to the Tan Son Nhat Airport for your flight onwards to Siemreap of Cambodia. Upon arrival in Siem Reap airport, transfer to hotel for check in. Untouched since it was discovered and retains much of its mystery. Visit to the unique interior brick sculptures of Prasat Kravan, Srah Srang (“The Royal Baths” was once used for ritual bathing), Banteay Kdei (surrounded by 4 concentric walls), Ta Keo, constructed in late 10th early 11th century C.E, the first temple to be constructed wholly of sandstone. Getting up at 5am for sunrise at Angkor Wat is an absolute must do while in Siem Reap. If you are lucky enough to get a morning with just the right amount of cloud cover the sky transforms at 5:45 from inky navy blue to crimson, pink and red as the sun begins to climb over the horizon. After photo taking, back to hotel for your breakfast. Visit the antique capital of Angkor Thom (12 century) : the South Gate with its huge statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk, the Bayon Temple, unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara, the Phimeanakas, the Royal Enclosure, the Elephants Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. Lunch not included Visit the most famous of all the temples on the plain of Angkor: Angkor Wat. The temple complex covers 81 hectares and is comparable in size to the Imperial Palace in Beijing. Its distinctive five towers are emblazoned on the Cambodian flag and the 12th century masterpiece is considered by art historians to be the prime example of classical Khmer art and architecture. Breakfast at the hotel Today we will full day excursion to Phnom Kulen Mountains, enjoying the visit to the biggest Buddha statue, the water fall and the river of thousand lingas. On the way back, we will visit to Banteay Srei temple (10th century), regarded as the jewel in the crown of classical Khmer Art. Accommodation at hotel (B)
Breakfast at the hotel We will visit War Museum, where is collective of historical objects like weapons, bombs, jets that were all used during the war era. These will take you to the authentic scene of war period in Cambodia. (The guide will show some necessary tips to protect ourselves from those weapons) Then we head to Les Artisans D’Angkor – Chantiers Ecole where visitors can observe artisans making high quality wood and stone carvings from scratch to end-product. After that, we visit Siem Reap market where all kinds of souvenir staffs are available. (If there time permits, we will visit the area on the Khmer Rouge/Killing Fields is Wat Thmey). After that, we will transfer to the airport for flying to Luangprabang of Laos, meet our local guide on arrival and transfer to your hotel, free time for your own of explore the Night Market, where you can find a lovely selection of handmade textiles made by the hilltribe and local people surrounding Luang Prabang. Overnight in Luang Prabang (B)
Today, we enjoy a short-guided tour seeing the city’s oldest temples of Wat Sene and the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground, which represents classical Laotian architecture. We then embark on a cruise upstream on the Mekong River, which also gives us a breathtaking view of the tranquil countryside as well as exploring the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by devoted pilgrims. Along the way, we will stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, where the local rice wine is produced. On return, we take a short drive to another small village Ban Phanom, which famous for its hand weaving. Overnight in Luang Prabang (B)
Today we visit the National Museum (closed Tuesdays) at the former Royal Palace. It displays a collection of artefacts reflecting the richness of Lao culture dating from the days of the early kings right through to the last sovereign. There will also be time for us to look around the Central Market. After visiting these sights in the morning, there may be free time (depending on your flight) to venture into town and stroll around the shopping area. The tour ends after your transfer to the airport for departure (B)
