The terraced fields seen from a distance

Ethnic groups from the countrys northwest kicked off a cultural and sports festival in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai on October 23.

The four-day festival, the 10th of its kind to date, will include traditional sports, folk art performances, a fair, an exhibition featuring cultures of the ethnic groups and a seminar on how to preserve and develop traditional cultural identities in the area.
